Turn a massive profit while still competing with the big toy retailers

Unlike the earlier times, in todays market there is very little room for any profit for a mom & pop retailer. Large retailers
like amazon.com and Toys R us are marking their merchandise up with just pennies on the dollar.
In order to compete with these big-wigs you must have an outside strategy, other then just selling merchandise on the cheap.
Some retailers have tried to compete with quality but, very few have succeeded at this strategy. No matter what type of personal
touch a retailer makes, it seems to be no substitute for the fancy designs and the endless branding these large retailers
use.
As A toy liquidator I am pleasantly surprised that retailers have finally found a strategy which works. Selling closeout toys
along with normal wholesale toys. Since most toy retailers only buy from manufacturers at wholesale prices, this gives the
average toy retailer some real leverage.
Selling closeouts in toy retail store has two advantages.
1. Baiting: By advertising the ultra low closeout prices the retailer is grabbing customers away from the big retailers and
increasing their customer base.
2. Profit: Closeout toys are so heavily discounted, that the retailer does not have to worry about putting higher margins
in his retail store. In fact many retailers who use this strategy don’t try to make anything on the wholesale toys,
they, just rely on the closeout merchandise in order to start seeing some green.
